How to Crochet a Fuzzy Ball

    • 1). Chain 2. Make six single crochet stitches (sc) in the second chain from the hook. Place the stitch marker into the stitch you just completed to mark the end of the round. Do not join or turn your work.

    • 2). Make two sc into each stitch of the previous round for a total of 12 sc. Move the stitch marker up to the stitch you just completed.

    • 3). Work one sc into the first stitch, then two sc into the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around, ending with two sc in the stitch with the marker, for a total of 18 sc. Move the stitch marker up to the stitch you just completed.

    • 4). Make one sc into each of the first two stitches, then two sc into the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around, ending with two sc in the stitch with the marker, for a total of 24 sc. Move the stitch marker up to the stitch you just completed.

    • 5). Work one sc into each stitch of the round for a total of 24 sc. Repeat this round three more times. Move the stitch marker up each round as you go.

    • 6). Make one sc into each of the first two stitches, then single crochet the next two stitches together. Repeat this pattern around, ending by working the last two stitches together, for a total of 18 sc. Move the stitch marker up.

    • 7). Work one sc into the first stitch, then single crochet the next two stitches together. Repeat this pattern around, ending by working the last two stitches together, for a total of 12 sc. Move the stitch marker up.

    • 8). Turn the ball inside out so the fuzzier side is on the outside. The beginning yarn tail will now be on the inside, so you won't need to weave it in later. Stuff the ball firmly but not too tightly with the fiberfill.

    • 9). Single crochet the next two stitches together. Repeat around for a total of six sc. Remove the stitch marker. Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a 9-inch (23 cm) tail.

    • 10

Thread the tail onto the tapestry needle. Weave the tail through the last six sc, then pull tight to cinch them in. Push the needle through the ball from top to bottom, pull it tight so the top of the ball pulls down a bit, then cut the tail flush with the bottom. When you shape the ball back into a sphere, the yarn tail remains buried in the stuffing.
