How to Download E-Books for an iPad

    • 1). Download an eBook app, such as iBooks, Kindle, Nook or Stanza from the App Store onto your iPad. You can download more than one, so consider testing out several to find out which ones have the best selection of books you like.

    • 2). Create an account with the service or sign in with your existing account, if prompted. The iBooks app uses your existing iTunes account, so sign in with the same username and password you use for your iPad apps and syncing. If you already have an account with Amazon, use your existing ID and password for the Kindle app.

    • 3). Tap either the "Store," "Browse" or "Shop" button, depending on the app you are using, to locate new books to download.

    • 4). Search for the books you want by author, title or topic.

    • 5). Tap the price, purchase or download button to begin the purchase process. For free books, you still need to sign in with your user ID or confirm your password.

    • 6). Tap "OK" or the similar option and enter any other required information to complete the purchase and begin the download. The book will automatically appear in the app's bookshelf or book list when the download is complete.
