Barre - An Important Tool For All Ballerinas

Ballet is a form of dance first performed in France.
It is an art that requires proper stature, balance, and discipline.
Ballet dancers use different kinds of movement to convey emotions and a story.
During practice, ballet dancers perform certain movements with the help of some equipment, including the barre.
For all the aspiring ballerinas, the barre is a very important tool.
It helps a dancer to stay balanced while stretching their muscles and performing steps.
It serves as a support for the bones and the muscles.
It is very essential when practicing the five basic positions in ballet.
Its stability makes it comfortable to use when doing the plie, arabesque, ronde de jambe, and the other basic steps.
Each movement is done while holding on to the barre.
It allows the dancer to perfect a move while being supported.
It may be composed of any kind of wood.
But the most popular choices are the poplar, oak and maple.
It is often given a light coating of shellac.
Care should be observed keenly, not to let the wood become too slippery, because this may lead to the injury of the dancer.
The chrome or brass that holds it in place is called bracket.
The bracket must be properly incorporated into the wood in the most appropriate angle.
The barre, on the other, should be mounted to the wall in a downward angle.
There are two types of barre.
The first kind is wall-mounted.
This may be secured against a wall with screws and a metal support.
It may also be connected into a wall mirror using a drill and two or three support brackets.
The other kind is freestanding.
It consists of different types of bars that support the whole mechanism.
It can be adjusted depending on the age, size, and abilities of the dancer.
Learning the art of ballet requires hard work, skill, perseverance and talent.
But even if you have all of these, practicing without a barre could be difficult.
So, it is important to choose the one that fits you best.
