How to Replace Motor Mounts on a 2002 GMC Sonoma

    • 1). Jack up the front end of the Sonoma with the floor jack and rest the front end on a pair of jack stands Open the Sonoma's hood. Connect the engine hoist to the front-right and left side of the engine.

    • 2). Slide unde the front end of the Sonoma and locate the right and left motor mounts. Remove the bolt that is securing the mounts in place using the ratchet set. Raise the engine using the engine hoist enough to take the weight off of the engine mounts. Pull the engine mounts off of the frame.

    • 3). Slide the new motor mounts into there fittings. Lower the engine onto the engine mounts. Make sure that the holes in the frame, mounts and engine all line up with each other. Replace the securing bolts to the mounts. Tighten the securing bolts using the ratchet set.

    • 4). Disconnect the engine hoist from the engine and close the hood. Use the jack to lift the front end and remove the jack stands. Lower the front end to the ground.
