Caramel in a Can Instructions

    • 1). Peel the label from the can of condensed milk and discard.

    • 2). Poke a couple of holes in the top of the can with the opener.

    • 3). Put the can into the stove-top pan.

    • 4). Pour boiling water into the stove-top pan until it is close to, but not up to, the top. Bring back to a gentle simmer and maintain the simmer. For light, liquid caramel, cook for an hour and a half. For thick, dark caramel, simmer for up to four hours.

    • 5). Take the can from the water using tongs and allow it to cool before use.
